Mini Style Guide

This year’s Mini Sessions for Mother’s Day will have a bright pink backdrop with flowers set up andavaiable to photograph in front of and then we will also do photos in the green tall grass nearby.

The Aesthetic

These sessions are curated to have a modern, clean, Pastel and neutral color aesthetic that allow for the people to be the focus and their outfits to be complimentary, not distracting.

Colors

I recommend sticking to a neutral or pastel color palette like white, cream, nudes, soft colors like pink, yellow, orange, blue (avoid green) along with light jean colors and very soft patterns.

Style

The styles I would recommend the most to consider are: minimalist, classic + boho chic. These styles of clothing are simple, clean, and don’t distract from the person and the set.

Clothing - Ladies + Guys

A dress (can be long/midi/short), light jeans w a top (flowy or with nice texture like lace trim or linen top), casual romper or jumper, matching set // Jeans + casual button up or t-shirt, shorts with t-shirt, linen pants/chinos with shirt.

Clothing - Accessories

It’s always a great idea to wear cute earrings, simple necklaces and even include a cute hat for the ladies or kids. I will have some earrings and necklaces there for you to borrow as well.

Clothing - For the kids

Babies can be in cute rompers, onesies, or dresses. Older kids can do jeans with a top or button up, dresses or a matching set, shorts and button up.

Make-up

It’s always best to look look like a polished version of yourself. Nothing out of your ordinary or overdone. You want to look like yourself and feel comfortable. Doing natural make-up with nudes and pinks would be best!

Clothing - Shoes

I recommend comfortable shoes like sandals or flats. It would go so nice with the organic vibe of this session. If someone wants to wear socks, just have them be a light color.

Hair

If you’re wearing your hair down, you can add soft curls or waves to your look. If you’d like to add a hair accessory, make it simple. For kids, adding a simple bow or flower crown would also be beautiful!

Session Tips

  • I know family photos are stressful. Mentally prepare for what you need to organize beforehand & just know that once you get to your session, I'll take over and direct you guys the whole way through!

  • I recommend choosing mom’s outfit first so that you feel fly and plus you’ll most likely be able to use your outfit again vs the kids will grow out of them fast.

  • Try on all outfits the day before or earlier in the day to make sure everything fits well (Target/Old Navy/Cotton On are always a great last minute place to shop)

  • If you have small children and if they're wearing dresses, I recommend having them wear something underneath so we do not see pampers in case they sit down or when carrying them.

  • Map to the mini session location beforehand to estimate how much time you need to get there & add about 10 minutes just in case (I’ll follow up with details on location)

  • Do not feel embarrassed or worried if your kids don't listen right away. I'll do my best to make it all work out smoothly, I got this :)
